Review : Nabob Coffee Breakfast Blend

I tried the Breakfast Blend coffee from Nabob I got to review and I have to say I'm quite pleased!

The flavor is very mild and it's great to start your day. I normally drink it with milk and sugar but this one, I tone it down a bit. This is a mild blend and I normally like a medium so it all works.

It's got a very fresh taste to it too. It doesn't leave you with a yucky feeling on your teeth which is ideal for the workplace.

I give this coffee 4 stars out of 5 - well done Nabob!

Kit received - Nabob Coffee

Woohoo! Getting a package in the mail is always exciting but when you know it's going to be filled with some caffeinated goodness... it's even more thrilling. Yes, thrilling.

I received two of the seven Rainforest Alliance varieties by Nabob. Full City which is a dark roast and Breakfast blend which is medium roast. Works out perfectly because Js liked the dark roast and I'm more of a medium-to-mild roast kinda gal.

I am still sipping at my first giganta-cup of Breakfast blend and will be positing again with reviews.

PS: I'd like to add that the material I received with the coffee clearly indicates that 60% of the coffee is Rainforest Alliance approved instead of 30% as listed on their website. Kudos to you, Nabob for stinking to your promise and increasing the ratio of ethical beans. Not-so-kudos to you for not updating your website!

I've started doing a bit of research on the company and what they stand for and stand behind.

I was happy to learn that their containers are made from 50% recycled materials. Not only that but the packaging recyclable and weights 34% less than their old one so helps lessen the company's impact on the environment. Way to go Nabob!

Nabob is also working with the Rainforest Alliance that invests in the conservation of biodiversity and the quality of life of local people in their environment. I was a bit disappointed by how much (or little!) Rainforest Alliance certified coffee is being provided to consumers. I understand it's a work in progress but I still believe that it's not quite clear. When I started looking at the websites, I thought 100% of the coffee was certified. Then digging a bit deeper, I saw that it's only Rainforest Alliance varieties. Then, I read that it's only a minimum of 30% of coffee sold as those varieties that is certified. The website also only says they are working towards 100% within the next few years. I'd like to know what your actual goals are. 2 years? 10 years? Give me something to show you're serious about this.

I think the logo of the Rainforest Alliance on each variety is a bit misleading but I'm not one to turn away a good cup of Joe.
I'm looking forward to reviewing the product and learning more about the company.
